Experimental studies were undertaken to investigate the pathological changes in goldfish, Carassius auratus, caused by the extracellular product of Aeromonas hydrophila with the treatment of cortisone acetate or cyclophosphamide.
The grass and histopathological changes were as follows :
Gross findings were observed congestion, hemorrhage and swelling of the gilt, fin and scale, abdominal distension, ascites and peritonitis. Also swelling and formation of the nodule or cyst in the internal organs were noticed.
Microscopic findings revealed degeneration, necrosis and infiltration of inflammatory cell in the parenchyma) organs. Later replacement by granulation tissue and formation of granuloma or cyst were seen.
Ultrastructurally prominent losses of the cellular organelles of the reticuloendothelial cell and lymphocyte were observed.
